De Zilveren Maan is more than a holiday home. It is an old farmhouse that we converted, with respect for the past and for nature, into a warm and sustainable place to be together.
When we breathed new life into this old farmhouse, we wanted to keep and reuse as much as possible. The original wooden beams stayed, we worked with steel from demolished barns, wood from old grain silos and even reclaimed ship decking for the terrace around the pool. That way, every little corner carries a piece of history with it.
Manu worked for years in the world of renewable energy, and you can see that throughout the whole house. A heat pump, over 23 square metres of solar boiler, a composting toilet, rainwater collection and ventilation with heat recovery: the house is ecological down to the details, with an excellent energy rating.
The name refers to a butterfly species found here in the region. To us, it stands for a magical place where rest and activity come together, with respect for each other and for nature.
Manu has been your host for six years now and is the main point of contact for all guests. Together with Lut, he manages the house entirely himself. No anonymous rental agency, but people who welcome you personally and think along with you. They live 2.5 km from the house, so if something really comes up, they can be there quickly.
